Sheki (21) from MNL48 in Manila, Philippines, who boasts one of the best singing abilities of any 48 group in the world, has started an unchallenged project. As part of a project, “Connect the world through songs”, Sheki has launched “Sheki Sings,” a stream of a duet with members of 48 sister groups from around Asia.
The videos are like a duet version of the popular YouTube channel “THE FIRST TAKE”. The production staff commented, “Now that the whole world is suffering from the Covid disaster and the opportunities to see the idols are decreasing, we thought we would collaborate with our friends from the 48 groups in various countries and regions through songs to deepen our bond.
The first song was “I Love You 3000” with Kaycee (24) of SGO48, which was disbanded on December 22. The ballad song was produced by Indonesian female singer Stephanie Poetri in 2019, inspired by the famous line “I love you 3000 times” by Iron Man, the main character of the blockbuster movie “Avengers: Endgame”.
The beginning of the song started by Kaycee, a guest with a mature voice, followed by Sheki with an impressive high-pitched voice. The last song is closed with the two’s harmony which sounds like a gem.
Sheki, who started the big new project, thanked the audience, saying, “I am very happy to have been allowed to use my talent and inspire people through music”. “We worked on the chemistry between the two of us, since we need to balance everything it is much more complicated than singing a solo, we took more attention on the harmony and line parts,” she said.
Kaycee also said, “As a representative of SGO48, I was happy to be able to collaborate with my good friend Sheki. The activity schedule was scattered, it was hard to coordinate the practice schedule, but we were able to make it work. I love you 3000!”. (*The comment was received on 18th of Dec.)
