A historic moment in the AKB48 Group’s history, the global unit “Quadlips” has been born, uniting members from AKB48 Group who are active in various Asian cities. The announcement was made during BNK48’s concert, “Depart’Cher Cherprang BNK48’s Graduation,” held in Bangkok, Thailand, on October 29.
The members of Quadlips are HINA from SKE48, FENI from JKT48, FAME from BNK48, and COLE from MNL48. They will begin their activities in Bangkok in November and make their worldwide debut in January 2024. Starting from different locations, including Nagoya, Jakarta, Bangkok, and Manila, and they plan to expand their activities throughout Southeast Asia.
This dream unit, which has never existed before, brings together popular members from 48 Groups worldwide to form a dream team. The company Superball, which previously managed “IZ*ONE,” is set to carry out activities that incorporate a diverse range of cultures, with Southeast Asia as its base.
HINA, who announced her move to an overseas base on September 25 and had a farewell event, “Hina Aouno’s Farewell Party,” during a theater performance on October 15, expressed her joy and excitement with the following statement:
“When I first heard about it, I thought it was a joke. I have never been abroad before, and I have always been in Aichi Prefecture. I honestly feel a lot of anxiety about whether I can handle this alone. I never thought I would have the opportunity to work overseas in my life, but I don’t want to miss out on this wonderful chance, so I made the decision to start right away.There is a high language barrier to overcome, but I am determined to grow through this experience, including learning the language.The members I will be working with are all kind and considerate, so I also want to do my best as one of the members to support them.”
FENI, a member of JKT48’s 3rd generation with over 8 years of idol experience, stated “I will be able to introduce JKT48 and 48 Group to wider audience. Quadlips will definitely have so many activities that 48 Group had never done before, and that is so interesting. Also since we came from different region and countries, we will be able to learn each other’s language and culture which I think very beneficial for all of us. I will do my best forQuadlips!”.
