The awards honoring Filipino artists, the “8th Philippine Pop-PPOP Awards,” announced its winners on November 30. Sheki Arzaga, known as Sheki from MNL48, secured a position among the top three solo artists for “Philippine Top Female Vocalist of the Year.” Additionally, MNL48 as a group was selected as one of the top three in the category of “Philippine Top Favorite Group of the Year.”
The criteria for this award include:
P: Patronize Desiring as Filipinos citizen to be patriotic in loving our own music & culture
P: Promote Spreading awareness and be it known to the world by means of promotions
O: Observe Finding and developing ways to become an excellent in the field of artistry and creativity
P: Preserve Advocating for a cause in preserving our heritage and identity as Filipinos
Among all AKB48 groups, Sheki, known for her exceptional vocal prowess, made her debut with the single “Tell Me” in December of the previous year. In 2023, she intensified her solo activities, recording in Los Angeles after visiting the United States in September. Her 2nd single, “Good For Ya,” released on November 15, surpassed 150,000 views in just two weeks. Furthermore, on December 2, she commenced streaming the 3rd single, “FOLLOW YOU,” showcasing her continued success as the year comes to a close. Sheki aims to expand her activities globally, keeping the world as her stage in the future.
