Sheki (21) of MNL48 in Manila, Philippines, who boasts one of the best singing abilities among 48 groups around the world, has been collaborating with members of 48 sister groups in the “Sheki Sings” project to stream duet collaboration on YouTube. For this final 8th installment, Sheki collaborated with Coleen from MNL48 (19), to challenge a British singer-songwriter Jessie J’s mega-hit song from 2011 called “Price tag”. The cover was uploaded on 4th on Sheki’s official YouTube account.
The music video for the original song has over 700 million views, making it a song that has been played and loved in every part of the world. The video features Jesse J in front of a tree with a stack of cash as leaves, singing the lyrics of the chorus, “Money, Money”, sure leaves an impression.
The song began with Sheki in a purple shirt, followed by Colleen in a brown plaid top, and moving her body to the rhythm comfortably with her right hand on the headphones throughout the song.
The two of them harmonized on the familiar chorus “Money, Money”. And the rap part, sung by the American rapper B.o.B. in the original song, was split in half between Sheki and Coleen. Not only their vocalizations but also their snappy rhythm was a visual highlight.
The last part of the song ended with the two harmonizing together, as expected by a colleague, they were in an incredible synchronization. They finish up the song with a smile, a nice performance that was heart-catching. A perfect finale to the series.
Sheki said, “Last but not the least, of course Sheki Sings isn’t complete without a collaboration with my own group. Im glad that my member, Coleen has joined me and is willing to support her own sister!”.
