On July 15, MNL48 performed at the “TUGATOG Filipino Music Festival,” one of the largest P-POP festival in the Philippines. Held at the Mall of Asia Arena in Manila, the festival featured a total of 17 popular artists from the local artists. The festival had been long awaited by many, as large-scale events have not been possible in recent years due to the lockdown caused by the coronavirus. Approximately 18,000 spectators gathered at the venue.
MNL48 appeared as the opening act with the girl group BINI, and blasted the audience with their 6th single “RIVER,” which was released in March 2020, in front of a large LED screen displaying a lightning bolt.
In a collaborative stage with boys group BGYO, MNL48 performed an arranged version of their 5th single “High Tension” and BGYO’s “Sabay”, sung alternately. MNL48 appeared in mini-skirt costumes with neckties, a limited edition rendition for the day.The concert ended with “No Way Man,” the latest 7th single, which showcased their high-level dancing. Yzabel’s commented,”Being able to perform on such a big stage for Tugatog felt so empowering despite the troubles we encountered preparing for our performance. It’s a memorable experience for all of us.”
Jem (23) commented, “The feeling was somewhat unexplainable since that was the first time we had the chance to perform live in front of a very big crowd after a long period of inactivity. The collaboration we had with other P-Pop groups was very memorable; they are all so good.”
